CSM1100 is a highly-integrated SoC that supports satellite, cable, and terrestrial high definition as well as standard definition Set-Top-Box (STB) applications. It improves previous generation STB chipset solutions in video quality, processor performance, 2-D graphics engine enhancement, software audio decoder with multiple bit rates and peripheral support. An embedded ARM processor running at 220MHz can support the advanced embedded software applications such as middleware, MHP and EPG. The CSM1100 is built in 0.13¦Ìm process technology. It has very low power consumption. The BGA package and ball assignment are designed for easy board layout. This also reduces total solution cost.
Transport Processor
CSM1100 contains an MPEG-2 hardware transport processor for concurrent demultiplexing, descrambling and data filtering of transport stream. It could handle up to 640Mbps transport stream, support both serial and parallel modes of interface to external tuner/demodulator. It could handle 1 channel HDTV decoding and 1 channel HD-PVR simultaneously and TS stream playback.
Video Processor
The video processor in CSM1100 is a powerful engine which is controlled by a dedicated MCU. It can support MPEG-2 up to main profile at high level. All features and coding tools (except 4:2:2 chroma sampling mode) in MPEG-2 video decoder are supported including: picture-level adaptive frame/field mode, slice structures and display formats of NTSC, PAL, 1080i/30/ 25fps, 720p/60/50fps. It can support arbitrary size upscaling & downscaling and zooming in & zooming out.
Audio Decoder
The software audio decoder in CSM1100 supports high error resilience capability. It also decodes different audio formats such as Dolby Digital,MPEG-1/2/2.5 layer I&II&III, MPEG-2/4 AAC and Wave. They support Variable Bit Rate and Constant Bit Rate modes. MP3 supports up to 320kbps and Free Bit Rate mode. Available audio outputs are I2S digital outputs.
2-D Graphic Engine
CSM1100 contains a flexible and efficient advanced 2-D graphic engine. It can process multiple commands and support different formats: rectangle graphics with surface sizes up to 1920x1080, four normal graphics formats(RGB565, ARGB4444, ARGB1555, CLUT4/8), raster operation and/or blending, generic COPY and FILL. It can support arbitrary size scaling.
RISC Microprocessor
CSM1100 contains an integrated 32-bit RISC microprocessor subsystem with separate instruction and data cache and DSP extensions.
Peripherals
Integrated peripherals include three UARTs, two smart card interfaces, timers, 16 x GPIO, an I2C, SPDIF output, an USB2.0 controller with OTG support, a built-in IR remote control receiver for NEC and RC-5, a built-in LED controller, an SPI controller and a panel controller with RC/NEC remote controller and keyboard scan controller.
Software Kit and Reference Design Solution Package
Centered around the CSM1100, Celestial Semiconductor also provides total solutions with hardware and software reference design. The software package includes all drivers and parts of normal STB application software, such as channel searching, games, graphics interface, system design and program management. Hardware reference design supports HDMI, USB, Ethernet, Smartcard, panel and power supply.
These reference design solution packages are developed to assist customers to reduce their time to market. They can also make porting applications easier.
