Kelowna, Canada, February 7, 2012 –Vineyard Networks, a global leader in Next Generation Deep Packet inspection solutions, today announced its product support for the new state-of-the art OCTEON® III MIPS64® family of 1 – 48 core multicore processors, as well as its product integration into the TurboDPI™ framework, both from Cavium, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking and communications.
Vineyard Networks’ next-generation Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) engine, Network Application Visibility Library (NAVL), easily integrates into third party network infrastructure solutions to provide industry leading L7 detection of thousands of today’s most popular applications. In addition, it has the ability to extract extensive sets of metadata and application attributes from network traffic in real time. With NAVL’s support of Cavium’s OCTEON processor family, as well as its integration into Cavium’s TurboDPI engine, Enterprise and Telecom network infrastructure vendors have access to unprecedented performance and scalability.
“We’re very excited to release NAVL’s support for the OCTEON series of processors, and the OCTEON III platform as it introduces a whole new level of performance for our NAVL DPI Engine,” says Jason Richards, CEO of Vineyard Networks. “This next-generation of processors will enable next-generation DPI at the speeds required in today and tomorrow’s core network.”
Vineyard Networks is now a Cavium PACE (Partnership to Accelerate Customer End-solutions) member.
“The integration of Vineyard’s application detection and DPI engine on the OCTEON III processor as well as the Cavium TurboDPI platform brings a new level of Deep Packet Inspection to our technology customers,” says Tasha Castañeda, Senior Strategic Alliance Manager for Cavium. “We see the demand for advanced DPI in high performance environments continuing to grow rapidly in the industry.”
The TurboDPI software framework is a multifunction Deep Packet Inspection Technology which delivers wire-speed Protocol Analysis, URL Detection, Anti-malware, Intrusion Detection and Application Performance Management functions highly optimized on OCTEON processors.
Cavium OCTEON III processors are optimized for use in cloud computing, high-end core and edge routers, Metro Ethernet, Enterprise switches, 3G/4G/LTE base-stations, Enterprise security gateways and appliances, storage networking and mobile core infrastructure equipment. The OCTEON III family integrates 1 to 48 MIPS64 cores, at up to 2.5GHz, providing up to 120GHz of industry-leading 64 bit compute power per chip. Multiple chips can be combined into a single logical high-performance processor using Cavium’s innovative new chip interconnect architecture. All OCTEON III’s also incorporate new dedicated hardware engines to speed search, protocol parsing and traffic management as well as enhanced cryptography, compression and deep packet inspection engines.
