Cavium's revolutionary PureVuTM video processors with real-time 1080p60, Super Low Latency (SLLTM) H.264 compression, and advanced QoS utilize standard WiFi IP networking for Multi-Room Wireless Gaming

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 10, 2010 – Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the digital home, today announced that it will demonstrate its whole-home wireless gaming solution using standard WiFi based upon Cavium's latest PureVu processors in booth number 4221 at the E3 Expo 2010 taking place June 15-17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Cavium's industry leading Super Low Latency (SLLTM) H.264 compression technology is designed to meet the requirements of the most stringent interactive applications, making the PureVuTM video processor family the only viable whole-home wireless solution for consumer gaming.

With Cavium's wireless display technology, consumers will now have the flexibility to play their favorite games on any display in their homes without having to move their gaming device. The PureVu™ CNW5XXX family of system-on-a-chip (SoC) processors combines Cavium's Super-Low-Latency (SLLTM) H.264 video processor, high performance NITROX security technology for content protection, and intelligent networking and packet processing capabilities in a fully integrated SoC that brings the company's revolutionary wireless display technology to a variety of gaming devices. These video processors are targeted for OEMs and ODMs to build wireless video and gaming capabilities into PCs, high definition TVs, and gaming consoles.

Cavium Networks will highlight the following PureVu video processor-based solutions:

  • Wireless Game Console: Cavium's PureVu video processor family is used in this application to wirelessly stream real-time game content from a gaming console to an HDTV set using standard H.264 compression and 802.11 WiFi technologies.
  • Multi-room PC Gaming: Cavium's wireless display technology to connect a gaming PC to a remote HDTV display, showcasing Cavium's industry leading super low latency video and back-channel over WiFi for remote game control.
